“How to Grow” -
Enterprise Toronto’s Small
Business Forum
“How to Grow” was the focus of this
year’s Enterprise Toronto’s Small Business
Forum, which took place Tuesday, October
18. The 11th annual event was an all-day
event that included: 15 in-depth seminars
with diverse, leading business professionals;
a trade show with over 75 exhibitors; a
Digital Zone (an opportunity to discover the
latest new technologies including business
software, mobile applications and social
media tools); and an evening of mega
networking sponsored by the Toronto Board
of Trade.
Highlights included:
Speeches and seminars by interntion-
ally known Canadian entrepreneurs like
Nadja Piatka (Nadja Foods), Murray Smith
(Indian Motorcycle), Laura Berg (My Smart
Hands) and Peter Evans (MaRS).
Seminars by David Gray (MacDonald
Sager Manis LLP) and Rubsun Ho (Cogni-
tion LLP)
Expert entrepreneur advisors David
Crow, Nicole Jansen (SalesPartners Toronto)
and Dominik Loncar (CYBF)
Brad McMillan (Apps on Tap Inc.)
presented how cloud computing is an ideal
tool for small businesses while Jeff Quipp
(Search Engine People) offered practical
tips on how to use search engine
optimization.
“From our perspective, the event was a
complete
success.
More
than
2000
entrepreneurs and small business owners
attended. There were 104 trade show
exhibitors and a total of 17 speakers plus our
keynote, Nadja Piatka. Participation in the
live social media feed was at least double the
activity from 2010. Attendee feedback was
overwhelmingly positive -- they learned
about new strategies, tried new technologies
and made new contacts to help their
businesses grow.” - Katherine Roos (Manager
of Small Business, City of Toronto)
“Toronto recognizes the enormous
potential of small businesses to grow,
prosper and create jobs,” said Councillor
Michael Thompson (Ward 37 Scarborough
Centre), Chair of the City’s Economic
Development
Committee.
“The
1500
people attending the Small Business
Forum will receive the information needed
to turn their ideas into reality and their
dreams into jobs.”
