has
been home
to many of the
greatest innovators of all time. The country
has seen entrepreneurs launch ventures
in all industries, succeed and fail, and
has grown companies that have set the
bar for international markets.
However, Canada on national, provincial, and municipal levels must
continue to support innovation in order to stay competitive. In Regaining
Competitiveness: Canada’s Biggest Challenge, The Canadian Chamber of
Commerce stated that “Canada and Canadian businesses must become
more ambitious, aggressive and innovative to compete globally and profit
from the enormous opportunities offered by the faster-growing regions of the world.”
The responsibility to grow and sustain a productive and internationally competitive
economy rests on governments, academic institutions and Canadian businesses.
Keeping Canada competitive and innovative will require continued investment into
technology and education, in order to continue to position Canada as the place to be for
entrepreneurs and investors.
In order to get a true sense of what is driving innovation in Canada, the IM team
spoke with leaders in innovation to discuss entrepreneurship, technology, and the
bright minds that turn ideas into reality.
