as well as incorporate the newest prod-
ucts and technology into their homes.
Part of being relevant is being a
green builder, something that Kinsman
indicates has been the case for Confed-
eration since Day 1. “We were green
long before it was a buzz word,” he
notes. “Our logs are all FSD Certified
and we have a very green way of har-
vesting.”
Confederation is the first log
home manufacturer in Canada to re-
ceive Energy Star approval. The com-
pany has a history of innovative tech-
nology and is also the only log home
company in Canada to have received
a CCMC rating that “exceeds require-
ments for allowable air tightness so it
wasn’t a challenge to conform to the
requirements of the Energy Star sys-
tem.”
The company adheres to the
building code but also goes above and
beyond when it comes to sustainabil-
ity. The company offers the latest in log
products, including an R20 product:
the engineered log from Great Lakes
Laminates. “The E-Log has recently
been introduced and these are insulat-
ed logs that we can offer as an option
to customers,” Kinsman explains.
