In addition to those elements, technol-
ogy and innovation have been impor-
tant. This is why hybrid vehicles work
here. People in Canada understand
that Toyota is committed to making
vehicles that are environmentally sus-
tainable.
CIO:
The environment is clearly
important to Toyota, how does that
influence not only the finished product
but also how it is produced?

Toyota views that it is its re-
sponsibility to develop a car which can
contribute to more sustainable living.
The operation of the global economy
means that more and more people are
driving. That makes the design of a
vehicle and sustainability all the more
critical. Toyota has been leading in this
regard; we are very aware of how en-
vironmentally conscious our vehicles
are when they are introduced into the
market. This includes how they are
manufactured; we consider the envi-
ronment in every step.

How important is it to
Toyota to recognize all of the people
involved in making it to 50 years in
Canada?
SI
:
We really appreciate the busi-
ness we have with our customers. Un-
less Canadians choose Toyota we have
no business. They have decided on our
brand and vehicle and we are as com-
mitted to our customers as they are to
us.
We consider our employees and
our dealers in this recognition. They
are so eager to exceed expectations
and this propels the Toyota business
further. For 50 years, markets have
shifted and been up and down but
our dealers work closely with us and I
think we’ve grown together.
In Canada our dealer network
and our company are committed to
quality.
