stood that Alberta itself was the first
province to introduce a penalty for
high emissions.
Environmental organizations
need to start taking note of the huge
environmental advances and scientific
breakthroughs in oilsands develop-
ments. We need to also communicate
that until people stop using petroleum
products, in their cars or otherwise,
petroleum products are going to be
needed. As much as everyone talks
about wanting to rule out the use of
petroleum, how many people would
willingly carpool in the GTA?
When it comes down to it, there’s
no debate: if you want to develop en-
ergy, you need to do it sustainably.
But we have taken it upon ourselves
and we are developing energy more
responsibly and sustainably than ever.
No matter what route you choose to
transport energy, through pipelines or
tankers, it still has to get from A to B.
Are people really ok with looking at
tankers as an option?
There is a lot of work to be done
in this area, and in promoting every-
thing that Alberta industry brings to
the rest of the country, and the rest of
the world. The ACC will continue to
advocate on behalf of those businesses
that are contributing.
