ONEPOWER
Take for instance, a small change
in the way oil and gas developers
move equipment from site to site. AVL
had an oil and gas customer in Cana-
da’s west who was constantly hauling
many different parts and components
to their remote sites in order to keep
up operations.
We have been, for a few years
now, developing our own products
that enable our clients to work more
efficiently,” DiCristofaro says. The first
came from the need to transport gen-
erators to a remote work site that had
to be able to power machinery. The
customer asked AVL to build a shed
with a generator inside and panel out-
side. AVL suggested to this particular
customer that they may be able to pro-
duce a large piece of equipment that
would power all the tools necessary
for the job site.
With ONEPOWER, the company
had created something to make clients’
work easier, and more efficient. “The
modules within ONEPOWER can be
customized to any end use scenario
that a customer has. The pods are re-
movable, and the units can house wa-
ter purification, welding, HVAC, and
therefore all of these can be taken to
remote sites, and they are all gener-
ated from one power source,” Maxwell
notes. ONEPOWER units are the size
of sea containers and adaptable to any
job site. “We developed them to be
modular, not all sites are the same.”
AVL products, including ONE-
POWER, have multiple values, and the
end use application is easy,” Maxwell
adds. End use application can some-
times be related to emergency man-
agement. In October 2012 Hurricane
Sandy hit the shores of New York State
and impacted the lives of thousands
of people. Considering the immense
destruction that befell New York resi-
dents, basic infrastructure was lacking,
and water was needed immediately.
The State of New York called upon
AVL to help, and a ONEPOWER® unit
was purchased and deployed. “With
its unique combination of water puri-
fication and power supply, ONEPOW-
ER® was able to deliver the essential
requirements that were necessary for
the communities that were affected,”
the AVL announcement reads. Clearly,
AVL has proven itself to be responsive,
no matter the circumstance.
